That’s what Texas is really all about, right?
We had a friend come in from Florida this week for his first visit to Texas. As soon as we left the airport, I took him to Riscky’s BBQ for his first taste of Texas food, and he LOVED it.
That night I worked at Sam’s Trouble and friends came out to see WhiskeyDick… And ME, of course.
Apparently you can’t get Hot Damn in Florida. Who knew?
Friday was the really fun day… After working most the night, our dear tourist friend was up and ready to go at 9:30. That’s the AM one. We all got up and around and after a quick breakfast, off to the stockyards we went…
Kunuu REALLY liked the cattle drive, too. For those of you who didn’t know, there is a cattle drive in the stockyards every day at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm. Yes, it’s only 10 steers, but how many large cities have cows roaming the streets?
We had fun and also took him to the White Elephant Saloon so he could see the hat and elephant collections and ordered lunch from the Love Shack, which is Tim Love’s burger joint. (Tim Love owns Lonesome Dove and is a really good and famous chef guy.) Kunnu and JillyJill actually ate the burger with a fried quail egg on it. I declined, as that burger violates my rules of lunchtime engagement.
Our friend Kunuu also got to see a metal show at Rock Dogs while he was here and was thoroughly impressed (of course).
Because she ROCKS, Jill got camo pants for herself, Lori, and me, so that we could match all our guy metalhead friends. Here’s what’s funny- I counted at least 8 men in that building last night wearing camo shorts and black concert shirts, and no one says a word. As soon as the three of us showed up, people started noticing WE matched???
Here’s a picture of us with Warren the Great:
I have a few random pictures that need to be posted… mostly because they are funny and random.
